A chance to give...

Uganda 2010

HELP International: Uganda 2008 from HELP International on Vimeo.

As many of you already know, over the past three years, I have kept myself busy by taking a sabbatical from teaching to explore administration and complete my Master’s degree in Education at Brigham Young University. In 2009, I successfully defended my thesis and graduated with my Master’s and at the same time, opted to return to the classroom to teach fourth grade. Completing my schooling and returning to the classroom setting has provided me with some time this summer to participate in a life-changing and goal-fulfilling experience. I have been accepted as a volunteer intern with HELP International in Uganda (www.help-international.org). The acronym of the organization stands for Help Eliminate Poverty and it strives to carry out this mission of sustainable development by teaching people how to be social entrepreneurs. During the summer of 2010, I will assist in developing and carrying out humanitarian service projects as well as teach self-reliance principles among poor villagers.

One of the unique aspects of HELP International is its ability to leverage a single donation to make a broad impact. Your donation helps to link different groups of people to maximize each groups’ strengths for the benefit of the poor. I have the time, mobility, health and energy to serve abroad. However, in order to participate, I am required to raise a significant amount to cover the part of my living expense while I am there as well as cover some of the resources needed to carry out the projects and programs. I invite you to invest in our work and become a partner with a contribution to the cause. Together we can create real and meaningful change in the lives of many people. I will be keeping and updating a blog throughout the six week experience that will show regular updates so you can know just where your donation went. You and your family can experience stories and photos of the projects and the people in Uganda you are helping.

The current economic situation has an effect on each of us and our families. This crisis has likewise created even greater destitution, poverty, and hunger for those living in the third world. But nonetheless, I am inviting you to join with me to serve the Ugandan people by donating $35, $50, $75, $100, $250 (or whatever you can). Checks should be made out to HELP International with my name “Jessie Jensen” on the memo line.

Feel free to donate on-line as well. Go to the HELP web-site and click on “donate now”. Place my name on the prompt line. If you’d like more information please visit the HELP International website at www.help-international.org or you can contact me.

We have all been so blessed! Thank you so much for your support and friendship over the years. Your help is appreciated more than you know

PLEASE NOTE: Funds raised herewith are donations to HELP International, to be used at HELP International's discretion. Donations are non-refundable. HELP International is a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit charitable organization. Your contributions may be tax deductible. Consult your tax advisor.
